This Winter Challenge was six months in the making before we launched it to CFC. The first and only challenge of its kind, targeting emotional and physical fitness and health.
At CrossFit Croydon we believe in a holistic approach to wellness. We believe in a lifestyle approach to our fitness, whereby our food nourishes and fuels our bodies to perform intense exercise and in mobility to support our training.
We also believe it is imperative to success that you regularly set goals, create routines and habits (rituals) that support these, and in the use of visualisation and affirmations to create your best life and body.
We do not believe everybody should look the same, we do not believe that you need a six pack to be fit (though we love to tighten up our core function daily), we do not believe that anyone is on the exact same journey. Some of our athletes want to drop a few kilos to help them move better and feel better, some want to increase their lean muscle mass in order to lift heavier, some want to improve their posture and technique so that they can keep moving well for the next 50 years, some just want to break up with the voice in their mind that tells them they can’t because they are “too old/young/fat/thin/weak/busy”…
So given that CrossFit WODs are programmed for and coached in a group environment, we decided that we could get a better idea of our athletes individual goals and see if we could support them to reach these, without altering the program.
We discovered that:
In response to these findings, we asked the amazing Simone from Yogamona to guide us through a goal setting worksheet. We utilised InBody analysis to track body changes over 30days and we held a support group on Facebook. Our challengers teamed up in a buddy system to motivate each other to train and the extra sessions allowed even more friendships to develop. We tracked our WODs and yoga sessions, with two challengers attending almost every session in the month, and many completing every session they possibly could.
Our wellness gift to each challenger was epic and included:
It was pretty amazing to see the mental and physical transformations that take place in just 31days, imagine what we could achieve in a year!
We hope this helps inspire YOU to regularly set and smash your goals, here is another article we think you will love: http://zanita.com/2015/01/10-great-habits-to-stick-to/
